A dishwasher washes your dishes — but who washes the dishwasher? Regular cleaning keeps it running smoothly, odor-free, makes dishes cleaner, and extends its lifespan. Here's the complete checklist.
Weekly (5 minutes)
- Remove the bottom filter, rinse under the tap, and remove food debris.
- Wipe the rubber gasket around the door with a damp cloth.
- Check the spray arms — if there's food debris, use a toothpick/tweezer to remove it.
Monthly (15 minutes)
- Check salt: if the salt indicator light is on, add 2kg Largo salt.
- Check rinse aid: if the light is on, add 1L Largo rinse aid.
- Run a high-temperature empty cycle with a dishwasher tablet to clean the interior.
- Wipe all interior surfaces and door corners with a damp cloth.
Quarterly (30 minutes)
- Deep clean spray arms: remove spray arms, soak in white vinegar for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Check the drain hose for kinks or blockages.
- Clean the exterior and hinges.

Annually (as needed)
- Check the door seal for tears or wear.
- Use a specialized dishwasher cleaner to deep clean scale.
Signs you need to clean urgently
- Dishes smell after washing.
- Glassware is cloudy or stained.
- The machine makes unusual noises, or there's standing water.
